How Does She Do It?

All of the illustrations that you see on this website are original illustrations created by Patricia in the program Adobe Illustrator. Patricia believes that the computer is the modern canvas and her mouse the brush. Most of her illustrations begin with a hand-drawn sketch that is scanned in and used to begin the drawing. She then redraws the image using a series of lines and points. Color is added as well as new parts and features until a final, colorful illustration appears. This type of file is called Vector Art. This means the illustration reproduces extremely well when printed and can be increased to any size without losing any resolution. See more illustrations under the Portfolio page.

After scanning in the sketch and dropping it into Illustrator, Patricia redraws the illustration with a series of points and lines as shown here. She then adds color and new additions to it until a final illustration (right) emerges.

Most illustrations start with a simple sketch
